A man has appeared in court accused of producing up to £32,000 of cannabis at his Harrietsham home.

Scott Wood, of Pilgrims Way, allegedly grew 38 plants, supplied the class B substance and stole £1,000 of electricity in order to power the operation between August and January.

The 34-year-old did not enter a plea to any of the charges at a hearing at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court today after the bench decided the offences were too serious to be dealt with there.

Rachael Laughland, prosecuting, told magistrates that the estimated cost of the amount produced was between £10,640 and £31,940.

Wood was released on unconditional bail to appear at the town’s crown court later this month.
