A man threatened shop staff and punched a door in a busy shopping street.

Police were called at 8.15am today to reports of a disturbance in Week Street, Maidstone.

After a search a suspect was arrested in Broadway shortly before 9am.

A 24-year-old man of no fixed address remains in custody, on suspicion of criminal damage and a public order offence.
