It is alleged he demanded cash before leaving empty handed.

A Maidstone police community support officer (PCSO) responded and, after spotting a man near Sutton Road, was joined by officers who made an arrest. They also seized two knives.

Jason Barnes, of no fixed address, was later charged with attempted robbery and two counts of possession of a knife by investigators from the Chief Constable’s Crime Squad.
