A man has been charged with carrying out a robbery at a bookmaker in a town centre.

At around 11am on Friday, January 11, Kent Police was called to a betting shop in Week Street, Maidstone, where it was reported a quantity of cash had been stolen after threats were made to a member of staff.

Darren Sheller, aged 39, was arrested shortly after at a property where he had been staying in Tonbridge Road.

He was charged with robbery and remanded in custody to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court today.
