A MAIDSTONE man denied murdering teenager Lee Humphreys when he appeared at Crown Court. Michael Everest, 22, also pleaded not guilty to assaulting Paul Gower on March 12. He is alleged to have killed 19-year-old Mr Humphreys on April 7.

He was originally charged with attempted murder but it was changed after the youth, who lived near Mote Park, died on April 18 from stab wounds inflicted in Hastings Road.

Mr Everest, of Hastings Road, Maidstone, was remanded in custody until his trial on February 11.
