The man, who has not been named, was airlifted to Kings College Hospital in London, but died overnight.

Police confirmed the man's death, and said an inquest was due to be opened and adjourned in the next couple of days.

Paul Taylor, director of change and communities at Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, which runs the car park, said: "We are sorry to hear the sad news about the gentleman involved in yesterday’s incident at Meadow Road Car Park.

"Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time. We will continue to work closely with the police as they investigate the incident.”
