Man hit by car in Maidstone

A man has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car.

The accident happened at 8.15pm near Ye Olde Thirsty Pig pub in Lower Stone Street, Maidstone.

The man's injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

This morning, police were still at the scene near Knightrider Street's junction with Upper Stone Street, Lower Stone Street and the A249 Mote Road.

Rumours on social media suggesting someone had been killed in a hit and run were unfounded.
