A man who went to check on a woman who was surrounded by a group of men was then assaulted as he walked away.

The 30-year-old had left a nightclub in Bank Street with a friend at around 4am on Sunday, December 2, when he noticed a number of men talking to a lone woman.

After checking on her, he was then assaulted at the junction with Mill Street by the group of black men.

He suffered a broken jaw and was taken to Maidstone Hospital.

Detectives have been examining CCTV footage and are asking for anyone who saw what happened to come forward.

If you can help, contact DC Simon Powell on 101, quoting crime reference YY/22619/12. Alternatively, contact Kent crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
