Man pulled from River Medway in Maidstone

A man was taken to hospital after being pulled from the River Medway.

Kent Police were assisted by the fire service after being to called to concerns for a person's welfare in Tonbridge Road, Maidstone.

The emergency services were called at 11.30pm yesterday and on arrival it is understood them man entered the water.

However, the crews were soon able to get him out.

A police spokesman said: "Officers attended, along with fire and ambulance crews and assistance was provided to help him to safety. He was then taken to hospital."

A fire service spokesman added: "Kent Fire and Rescue Service was called to assist Kent Police at an incident."

Emergency services left the area at around 12.15am.
