Police help man in Week Street, Maidstone

Police officers helped a man who appeared to be in difficulty in Week Street, Maidstone, this afternoon.

The middle-aged man, who had dark hair, was first seen near the United Reform Church at about 3.15pm.

He was talking to two police officers, one on a pushbike.

The person collapsed near the United Reform Church

One officer was later seen pouring liquid from a bottle down a drain.

A police spokesman said at the time: "Police are currently assisting with the welfare of a man in Week Street and are liaising with the ambulance service."

An ambulance spokesman said they were called to Week Street at 3.20pm to reports that a man was semi-conscious.

The man did not require hospital treatment and crews left at 4.50pm.
