Maidstone High Street cordoned off after attack leaves man with head injury

Part of a town centre was cordoned off and examined by forensic officers after a man was taken to hospital with a head injury.

Police were called reports of an attack in Maidstone High Street at around 3pm yesterday, before sectioning off part of the pathway opposite the old Argos store.

The force's forensic team was called in to examine the scene and the cordon remained in place for around three hours.

A police spokesman said: "A man was treated at the scene for a head injury and was conveyed to a local hospital for further medical attention.

"Officers carried out a number of lines of enquiry including the review of CCTV footage and forensic examinations at the scene."

The man's injury wasn't described as life-threatening.
