Wrecking relations: Anger over raunchy Miley Cyrus video from Wrecking Ball shown at Loose Junior School disco

Education chiefs have been forced to apologise after a sexually-charged music video was shown on a screen at a Maidstone junior school disco.

Children were exposed to provocative footage from Miley Cyrus's number one single Wrecking Ball at Loose Junior School.

The three-minute and 42-second clip, which shows the controversial pop singer posing naked on a demolition ball, had 19.3million views on the Vevo website, making it the most-watched video in any 24-hour period and knocking previous holders One Direction off the top spot.

A 46-year-old mother, whose nine-year-old child was at the party, said: "I think it's ridiculous that the school can ban games such as It and British bulldog because they’re worried about the kids getting hurt, but they'll let them watch a naked girl swing on a wrecking ball.

"There were parents at the disco so I have no idea why they didn't turn it off. I'm not happy about it at all. It's not acceptable."

The celebration was organised by the Parent Teacher Association at the Loose Road school.

Head teacher Jay Pye said the school had contacted the organisation to advise of parents concerns as soon as it became aware of the situation.

She said: "The PTA were asked to contact the DJ so such videos are not shown again at a school event. The PTA has confirmed they have advised the DJ accordingly. There should therefore be no further worries in this area.

"We would encourage parents with concerns about any aspect of school to speak directly to the headteacher or senior staff."
