A teenager who went missing from the National Autistic Unit has been found safe and well.

Andrew Lincoln disappeared from the unit at the Bethlem Royal Hospital in Beckenham in the early hours of Saturday, August 17, and people in Maidstone were asked to watch out for him as his family used to live in Loose, and it was thought he might be returning "home".

The 19-year-old who has autism has since turned up safe and well.

Andrew has been found (15710485)

Vanessa Smith, the interim director of nursing at the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust apologised to his parents, saying: "We acknowledge that we failed in our duty to keep Andrew safe."

An investigation will be carried out into how Andrew was allowed to wander off.
