Maidstone's Mote Park

Cows may be allowed to graze in Mote Park under a £2 million regeneration plan.

A bid has been made to the Heritage Lottery Fund to pay for wildlife conservation and footpath improvements at the park.

If it is successful, Maidstone council wants to use the money to create a new path around the lake and another around the edge of the 450-acre park.

Small buildings with toilets and refreshment stands could be built at the Willington Street and School Lane entrances.

The council also wants to replant some lost trees and may re-introduce cattle grazing.

The proposals will go on display at the park on weekends between Saturday, July 5, to Sunday, July 20, for residents to give their comments.

More information is available from the Maidstone council website.
