Traffic on the M20 is back to normal after earlier delays.

The cab of a large HGV caught fire on the hard shoulder of the motorway on the west-bound carriageway, heading towards London, between Junction 9 (Ashford) and Junction 8 (Leeds) at around 5.30am.

All lanes were closed briefly while emergency services attended.

The flames were quickly extinguished and the motorway re-opened except for one lane to allow recovery of the damaged vehicle.

The recovery work was completed and all lanes re-opened at 12.30pm.
