The loved ones of a Maidstone woman hit and killed by a train have spoken of their despair following her tragic death.

Jolene Scorey, known to loved ones as Pol, died when she was struck on a railway line in Crismill Lane, Bearsted, last Monday.

Today, the 37-year-old's family, friends and fiance expressed their sadness in a statement.

They said: "Pol was tragically taken away from us on March, 2, 2015.

“Events leading up to Pol’s death took away her control over her life, and no-one knows what happened in those hours and minutes before this tragedy.

“Her family and friends, sister, fiancé and much-loved children now ask for their privacy to be respected so that they may grieve for Pol in peace."

Emergency services were called to the fatality just after 11.40am and confirmed a local woman had died.

On Thursday morning, flowers were left at the scene with a heartbreaking tribute to a "much-loved mummy".

The death is not being treated as suspicious but an investigation has begun into how she came to be on the tracks.
