Drivers are being told to avoid a busy route overnight as ongoing roadworks are set to close a road overnight.

The closure will be in place on the Lower High Street in Maidstone overnight this week until Thursday night going into Friday morning.

There will be no access between 8pm and 5am.

Firms will continue to be charged for carrying out roadworks. Stock image

Drivers are being told to choose an alternative route to avoid traffic.

This is part of the ongoing £5.7m project which aims to improve traffic flow and involves building two new lanes to let vehicles travel direct to Bluebell Hill and Chatham, avoiding the bridge system.
