Overrunning roadworks on the M20 near Maidstone cause long delays for drivers

Drivers are facing long delays after roadworks on the M20 overran.

The London bound stretch of the motorway between J4 for Leybourne and Snodland and J2 for Wrotham had been due to re-open at 5am.

An issue with white lining equipment meant the carriageway remained shut until just after 6am.

It's led to long delays and is taking drivers almost 90 minutes to get through the queues which are stretching back to J6 A229 at Maidstone.

Surrounding routes are also very busy and there are delays to public transport with Arriva reporting their bus services are disrupted.
