Maidstone: Police called to High Street after a man was hit by a car

A man has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car while he was walking in a Kent high street.

Kent Police was called shortly after 10am this morning after reports that a pedestrian was involved in a road traffic collision.

A police spokesman said: "The male pedestrian was taken to a local hospital with a suspected leg injury.

"The road was closed while patrols dealt with the incident but it has now re-opened."

Meanwhile a witness has told KentOnline the man who was injured was a bus driver.

They said: "He got out of his cab to get his passenger onto the right bus.

"As he stepped out he got ran over by the car."

It is believed no arrests have been made.
