Pedestrian 'serious' after collision with truck

A MAN was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries after an accident involving a lorry.

The man, believed to be in his 70s, received serious injuries to his head, neck and chest in the accident as he crossed Loose Road, Maidstone, at about 4pm on Tuesday.

Police closed the road between the Wheatsheaf roundabout and Boughton Lane. The road was not reopened until about 10.30pm.

The man was initially taken to Maidstone Hospital by Kent Air Ambulance where his injuries were described as life-threatening.

Later, when his condition was stabilised, he was airlifted again to the Queen Elizabeth Queen The Mother Hospital in Margate.
