Firefighters were called after a pick up truck caught fire on the A249 near Maidstone this afternoon.

Drivers faced delays on the southbound carriageway after the vehicle burst into flames at the bottom of Detling Hill.

Crews were called shortly before 7pm and quickly extinguished the blaze.

There were no reports of injuries.

Highways officials said the road reopened fully at around 7.20pm.
