RESIDENTS were left puzzled today after 14 former Russian Airforce trainer planes were spotted flying in formation over Maidstone and other parts of Kent.

The squadron of Yak 52s were being piloted by members of a flying school, based at the North Weald airfield in Essex, being trained by RAF instructors in the art of formation.

The flight took in Maidstone and Headcorn before returning to Essex via Biggin Hill.
