Police sniffer dogs and their handlers were spotted this morning at a derelict building site for "routine" training.

Three dog unit cars were seen withing the car park of the Power Hub at the foot of Buckland Hill underneath the train tracks.

It is believed the empty building is used regularly by Kent Police as a centre for training both dogs and staff.

Two dogs were released into the car park during training, which is understood to involve hiding and finding packages within the multi-storey building.

A nearby worker, who wished to not be named, said: "The police are allowed to use that building for training.

"Sometimes armed officers go there to do some training. It is just a routine exercise."
