Land Rover

Two injured police officers were forced to flee from their car as it was repeatedly rammed by a Land Rover Discovery.

The attack happened after police stopped a dark green H-reg car at around 11.20pm on Friday, at Frittenden Rd in Staplehurst.

Instead of speaking to officers, police say the driver reversed "at speed" crashing into the front of the police car and "repeatedly ramming it".

Both officers involved - who have since returned to duty - suffered whiplash injuries. The police car was heavily damaged and was not fitted with a camera as some traffic police vehicles are.

It is thought the Land Rover was also damaged. Anyone who saw it at the time or since is asked to contact police in Maidstone on 01622 604210 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
