Maidstone police have stumped up funding for the town's taxi marshals until March

Police have been praised for stumping up funding for Maidstone’s taxi marshals.
The force put forward the cash to pay for the two marshals to keep the rank in King Street in order until March after the scheme ran out of funding in July.
At a meeting of Maidstone Town Centre Management’s nightime economy forum, Dennis Conyon from the Maidstone Taxi Proprietors’ Association said: “They are keeping it going and they are to be commended. I am disappointed that we cannot find funds to assist.”
The marshals are now available on payday weekends, which tend to be the busiest in the town centre, and on special events such as New Year’s Eve.
