Eight suspected illegal immigrants have been found in the back of a lorry in Maidstone today.

The men and women were discovered in the vehicle after it was stopped by police close to the Wheatsheaf Pub on the Loose Road, at just about 12.30pm.

Arrangements are being made to transport them to Dover to be dealt with by the UK Border Agency.

The driver is being questioned on suspicion of facilitating their illegal entry into the UK.
