Police helicopter deployed in hunt for wanted man in Maidstone

A wanted man who crashed into a police car before driving off has been found and arrested.

A helicopter was brought in to help with the search, in the Mote Park area of Maidstone, this afternoon.

The pursuit started after officers spotted a man, who was wanted for arrest, driving in the town at 12pm. But he failed to stop and crash into the police car and then another at the junction with Armstrong Road and Loose Road.

No injuries have been reported.

The vehicle then drove away and a police pursuit was authorised, assisted by the police helicopter.

The car was located abandoned in South Park Road and the suspect located and arrested in a nearby house.

A spokesman said: "He is currently in custody having been arrested on suspicion of various offences including dangerous driving."
