Police are appealing for information following a high-value metal theft in Hollingbourne.

Aluminium plates, used to assist lorry heavy goods vehicle access to a field in Greenway Court Road, are reported to have been stolen overnight on Monday, June 11.

The plates are 10ft x 10ft and weigh around 300kg each.

A total of 37 of the plates are reported to have been stolen, with each plate being valued at £1,000.

Det Con Claire Davey from Kent Police said: "It’s likely that the people who took these plates would have needed to use a crane or hydraulic lifting equipment to move them, so this certainly wasn’t an opportunistic theft.

"I would appeal to anyone who saw any suspicious activity, or any companies who have been offered the plates for sale, to contact us with their information."

Anyone with information can contact Kent Police by calling 101, quoting crime reference YY/10531/12.

Alternatively, contact Kent Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
