Police investigating a spate of vehicle crime are keen to speak to a member of the public who they think challenged a man found in his car.

Officers are looking into several incidents that have happened in and around St Saviour’s Road, Maidstone between Friday, June 21, and Sunday, June 23.

They have information to suggest that a suspect was stopped and spoken to by a member of the public who found him in his car in St Catherine’s Road last weekend.

It is thought the suspect was rolling a cannabis joint or a cigarette, whilst also appearing to be drunk. However, the man who intervened has not come forward to report it.

Officers believe the information he is may assist them in bringing those responsible for four or five reported vehicle crimes to justice.

PC Jerry Chapman, leading the investigation, said: "I am asking anyone to come forward with potential information concerning a male breaking into cars in the St Catherine’s Road estate, off Sutton Road, in Maidstone over the weekend.

"In particular, we want to speak to the person who challenged a male when he found him in their car in St Catherine’s Road area.’

If you can help, call PC Chapman on 01622 604127.
