A murder investigation is underway following the "suspicious" death of a teenager in Maidstone.

Police and paramedics attended a property in London Road following a call at around 1.20pm, where it was confirmed a 19-year-old woman had died.

A 27-year old man from Maidstone has subsequently been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

A police spokesman said: "Both parties are believed to be known to each other.

"Enquiries to establish the full circumstances remain ongoing."

Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate are involved in the investigation.
