Police are on the hunt for a suspected illegal immigrant who jumped out of a lorry in a Kent village yesterday.

Officers descended on Royston Road, Bearsted, at about 1pm after reports three men had clambered out of a lorry.

Two of the men, believed to be from Albania, were detained and are now in the hands of the Home Office, while a third, who is thought to be wearing a blue jumper, is still on the run.

Royston Road runs off Spot Lane and is close to the main Ashford Road.

Michelle Bright, who passed the incident earlier, said: "I drove past and there were about five police cars and lots of officers. It didn't look like there had been an accident."
