Poplar Pre-School in Maidstone vandalised overnight

Police are appealing for information after a senseless act of vandalism was committed at a pre-school.

Several pictures detailing the extent of the damage to the playground equipment at Poplar Pre-School in Poplar Grove in Maidstone were shared on Facebook.

A CCTV image was posted of one of the men believed to be responsible and police are investigating a report of criminal damage.

The school said: "Whilst we were all welcoming in the New Year some lads decided it would be a good idea to damage our property.

"We have involved the police but we are looking at CCTV that shows one lad in a high vis jacket who is doing most of the damage between 12.30 and 1.00am."

A spokesman for Kent Police confirmed that the damage occurred between midnight on Monday, December 31 and 12.15pm on Tuesday, January 1.

"Play equipment was removed from the pre-school and put in a nearby field. Some of it was damaged beyond repair."
