A cash-strapped hospital trust is advertising for someone to develop its private sector work.

The role of director of private patient services for MTW Healthcare is being advertised at between £65,922 and £81,618.

MTW Heathcare is the private arm of the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust.

The job involves managing the Wells Suite, a private 26-bed ward at the Tunbridge Wells Hospital in Pembury.

In the job ad the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust said: “The successful candidate will be one who can make a vital contribution in helping the organisation realise its ambition to be a leading private health care provider.

Duties include marketing private patient services to GPs and people in the area.

A trust spokesman said: “We currently have a director of private patients but this has always been an interim appointment. The trust is now advertising this role as a permanent position.”

The hospital trust is making efforts to boost income as the new £80million private hospital in Bearsted is due for completion in January 2014. The BMI group also runs private hospitals in Maidstone.
