BBC Radio 1 will return to Maidstone in the build-up to this year's Big Weekend.

DJ Nick Grimshaw today announced he'll be hitting the road this Spring with a number of artists and special guests for his first ever BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show Tour.

During the four date UK tour Nick will broadcast special shows from previous Big Weekend host cities, including Bangor, North Wales (Monday April 29), Maidstone (Thursday May 2) and Swindon (Wednesday May 8).

As part of the build-up to the Big Weekend Derry~Londonderry 2013, Nick will broadcast the final show in the tour live from the city on Monday May 13.

During the tour Nick will be joined by special guests for live performances and chats; with 2012 X Factor semi-finalists Union J set to perform at the first date in Bangor. Other guests set to make an appearance during the tour will be announced on the Radio 1 Breakfast Show with Nick Grimshaw in the coming weeks.

Grimmy will present the show from local schools, in front of an invited audience on the Bangor, Maidstone and Swindon dates.
