A man was kicked and punched by a stranger in a busy shopping street in Maidstone.

The 27-year-old was in Week Street just before 1pm on Friday when he reported being attacked by a man he did not know.

He was not seriously injured but police were called and are now investigating.

No arrests have been made so far.

A police spokesman said: "He is reported to have been punched and kicked by a man unknown to him, but his injuries are not reported to be serious.

"Inquiries into the incident are ongoing. There have been no arrests."
