Findings into alleged police corruption to be published today

Published: 00:00, 17 June 2013

Kent's Police and Crime Commissioner Ann Barnes

A long-awaited report into alleged malpractice within Kent Police is expected to be released today.

Police commissioner Ann Barnes will publish the document, produced by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary at noon today.

The report - 137 days overdue - follows the arrest of five detectives in Maidstone in November for allegedly manipulating crime statistics.

Mrs Barnes originally promised the report would be made public by the end of January.

The report will also be discussed at a public meeting with Kent’s chief constable, Ian Learmonth, on Tuesday at 10am, at Kent Police headquarters in Maidstone. Anyone is welcome, but attendance needs to be confirmed with Ali Hammond by calling 07870 999879.
