Police have re-opened Forstal Road in Aylesford, which had been closed earlier this morning as they dealt with the aftermath of a crash.

A driver lost control of his vehicle this morning on the icy roads, left the carriageway, rolled the car onto its side and plunged into a tree. No other vehicles were involved.

Police have been criticised

Firefighters were called to release the trapped driver from the wreckage, using hydraulic cutters.

It is believed he suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. and he was attended by paramedics and doctors from the HEMS service at the scene, before being taken by land ambulance to hospital.

Police say they received a 999 call at 6.15am.

The road had been closed in both directions between Beddow Way and the A229 Running Horse roundabout for around three hours.
