The main route through a Maidstone estate will be partially closed for at least four weeks from today.

Wallis Avenue, in Park Wood, has been shut between the junctions for Brishing Lane and Hollingworth Road while drainage works are carried out.

Diversions are in place.

The road is closed because of a gas leak.

Motorists have experienced extra congestion in the area since traffic lights were installed on the Sutton Road earlier this month.

At peak times, queues have been back towards Morrisons and past the Bircholt Road industrial estate.

The temporary system is due to be removed next Tuesday.
