A busy road near a town centre is closed until next week for emergency repairs to a leaking water pipe.

Cranbourne Avenue, Maidstone, will remain closed until 7pm on Monday, July 9 after being shut last night.

Kent County Council announced the works yesterday afternoon, just hours before they were set to start.

South East Water workers will be on site to fix the leak.

An alternative route is via Plains Avenue, Marion Crescent and back onto Cranbourne Avenue.
