Maidstone: Man arrested after crash shuts Fairmeadow

Police have arrested a suspected drug dealer following a two-car crash in a busy town centre.

Fairmeadow in Maidstone has been shut for almost two hours following the accident between the gyratory and Stacey Street Roundabout at 12.35pm.

The driver of one of the cars fled the scene but police later found him.

Police have closed the A229 at Fairmeadow because of a crash (4300123)

Kent Police has advised the road is likely to remain closed while accident investigation works are carried out.

Queues are building on the Southbound approach stretching back towards the M20 junction 7.

There is also slow moving traffic heading Northbound on Fairmeadow as a result.

Drivers should use an alternate route where possible and expect delays in the surrounding area.
