Temporary traffic lights in the London Road, close to The Pippin pub in Maidstone, could be gone a week early, says UK Power Networks

Repair work on a faulty electricity cable could finish a week earlier than planned.

Temporary traffic lights have been placed on the London Road, close to The Pippin in Maidstone, since Monday - causing delays at peak hours.

UK Power Networks have had to install the lights to allow engineers to repair an underground cable and this work is now complete.

Kent Highways had given the company a deadline of Friday, February 27 but all that is left to do is relay the road surface.

A spokesman from UK Power Networks said they hope to have this completed by tomorrow.
