Maidstone-bound drivers faced long delays in this morning's rush hour.

It was caused by a broken-down vehicle on the north-bound A249 at the Kent Showground turn-off just before Detling Hill.

At about 7.30am, traffic had tailed-back as far as the Stockbury Roundabout which meant there was also long delays for drivers on the Sittingbourne stretch of the A249.

The vehicle had been moved by 8am and traffic problems slowly began to ease.
