Two families hit by tragic early deaths will say farewell at funeral services today.

Danielle Brooker

Danielle Brooker, right, who died aged 18, will be buried this morning at Maidstone cemetery after a service at St Michael's Church, in Tonbridge Road.

Danielle, from Barming, died after a common cold developed into a brain infection. She was a registered donor, and saved three lives by giving her heart, kidney, liver and a lung.

It has inspired many of her friends to become donors, while her proud family told the Kent Messenger last week that it showed "how amazing she was".

Her mother, Sharon, said: "She was always helping people and this is like the ultimate thing she could have done - saved someone's life."

Andrew Vickers, former Maidstone Rugby Club player who died at university in Exeter

Rugby player Andy Vickers, who died two days before his 23rd birthday, will be cremated at the Garden of England Crematorium, in Sittingbourne, this afternoon.

Andy, who was diabetic, died after collapsing at Exeter University on Saturday, October 23.

He was a former pupil at St John's School in Grove Green and Maidstone Grammar School, and he was a former player for Maidstone Rugby Club and Hunton Cricket Club.

His mother, Sheila, said: "He was always willing to do something for somebody else. He was always there for other people."

More tributes to Danielle and Andy in this Friday's Kent Messenger.
