Maidstone United were knocked out of the FA Trophy for the second time this season as they lost 2-0 at Salisbury City on Saturday.

James Peacock was also sent off on what proved to be a disappointing afternoon for the Stones.

The visitors got off to the worst possible start as they found themselves behind after just 59 seconds.

Matt Tubbs got away down the right and found Bradley Gray, who had enough time to bring the ball under control before finishing beyond keeper Jamie Turner.

The situation got even worse for United in the 26th minute when Peacock brought Tubbs down with an ugly challenge.

Tubbs was unhappy with the tackle and the two players clashed - however the referee decided Peacock was the principal offender as he was dismissed while Tubbs escaped with only a yellow card.

If the Salisbury player was lucky to remain on the pitch, he took full advantage by putting the result beyond doubt on 52 minutes with his 20th goal of the season, following up to score after Turner had brilliantly parried a Darren Clarke effort.

Tonbridge v Tooting & Mitcham

Tonbridge suffered late disappointment as they slipped to a 2-1 defeat to Tooting & Mitcham United at Longmead.

The Angels were behind inside 45 seconds when Aaron Goode drove through a crowd of players.

Tonbridge - who missed four great chances to equalise before half-time - finally levelled on 70 minutes when Lee Minshull scrambled home.

But Tooting won it in injury time when a hopeful, floated cross hit Tonbridge's Phil Starkey on the back and deflected in.
