A pest controller was surprised to pull a dead snake from a bathroom light fitting.

David Bruce, 60, discovered the 1.5ft dead reptile while searching for rats in the home of an elderly Aylesford woman.

He said: "The lady said she had something in the light fitting that she thought was a bit weird while I was doing a rat job for her anyway.

"She thought it might be a rat in there but it wasn't. I was a bit surprised as it was something unusual."

Although David, a pest controller with 15 years experience, was relaxed about the discovery, the homeowner was more shocked.

"I said 'oh, it's a snake' and she screamed. She didn't say much after that, she was a bit shocked."

"I have only found things like this two or three times but it could be a non-native snake that someone has thrown away or that's escaped, it's got teeth."
