Maidstone: Man in custody after stinger deployed during police chase in Langley

A man has been arrested after police used a stinger to stop a suspected stolen vehicle during a chase.

At around 12.20am a vehicle, which had been reported as stolen, was seen by officers in the Maidstone area.

The vehicle failed to stop when requested by officers in an area of Langley. It collided with a police car and left the scene.

A pursuit was authorised and came to an end in Upper Street following the successful and safe use of a stinger.

It is reported the driver then abandoned the vehicle and ran from the scene.

Officers carried out a search of the area and arrested a 28-year-old man of no fixed address on suspicion of theft. He remains in police custody.
