Police have confirmed they were called to reports of a fight between several people on the street, but more details on what exactly happened are awaited.

One of those caught up in the incident was bleeding profusely and the cordon was set up to deal with this and prevent other revellers from getting too close.

A worker at Kala Red, who asked not to be named, said that customers had seen a man with a heavily bloodied face staggering around outside.

Several arrests are believed to have been made.

It came as Maidstone's bars and clubs experienced one of their biggest nights on the last weekend before Christmas.
