KENTON OXLEY: "We are clearly strengthening our position as one of the country’s leading studio facilities"

KENT locations are to be used in a new drama produced at The Maidstone Studios.

Ecosse Films, one of the country’s leading film and television production companies, has based its operations at the five-studio complex at Vinters Park for the filming of a new eight-part psychological drama series Cape Wrath.

It stars British actor David Morrissey, who recently appeared alongside Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct2. He plays the lead role as Danny Brogan.

The story is based around Brogan moving to "Meadowlands" with his family in a bid to escape the past. The Brogans are trying to create a new life as part of a protective custody programme and in Meadowlands they think they have found a safe haven. But they soon discover almost everyone in the area has a secret.

The series is due to broadcast next Spring.

Producer Caroline Levy said: "The Maidstone Studios is an ideal location for us. Not only does it have a great atmosphere and excellent facilities, but it is central to all of our filming locations.

"We also have a variety of options to hand should we need to do any in-house studio filming."

Kenton Oxley, the general manager of The Maidstone Studios, welcomed the decision by Ecosse Films to come to Kent.

He said: "With The Trisha Goddard Show, RDF Media, Media Merchants, Ecosse Films and all the other media companies based here, we are clearly strengthening our position as one of the country’s leading studio facilities."
