Suspect denies teacher's murder

VICTIM: Louise Evans

A MAN denied murdering a teacher in a prison car park when he appeared at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday.

Keith Prest, wearing navy blue jeans and sweatshirt, pleaded not guilty to the murder of Louise Evans, 48, at East Sutton Park open prison, near Maidstone, on September 12.

Miss Evans, who lived at Hothfield, near Ashford, died from stab wounds. She worked as a literacy teacher at the prison.

Prest, also 48, of no fixed address, was remanded in custody until his trial on September 1 next year. It is expected to last four to five weeks.
