Duo arrested in Maidstone after cooking oil stolen from Cranbrook

A man and woman have been arrested after a van full of suspected stolen cooking oil was pulled over.

Officers were on patrol in Maidstone yesterday (Mar 9) when they saw a vehicle linked with the theft of cooking oil in Cranbrook in January.

The van was stopped and large containers of cooking oil were found inside.

A man and woman, both aged 32 and from north London, were arrested on suspicion of theft.

The man has since been bailed pending further inquiries, while the woman was released without charge.

A police spokesman tweeted: "Vehicle linked to several reports stating the occupants have been entering commercial premises to steal cooking oil across the South East.

"Large containers of cooking oil located inside the van which resulted in two arrested by RPU1. Vehicle has been recovered by us."
